The Liebster Award (2 parts)!

I was nominated twice this week for The Liebster Award, thank you so much to Sumaira at Hyper About Books and Kirsten at Reading My Reality. This is a bit of a long post as I’m answering two sets of questions. There are so many tags going around lately, and I love them! It’s been so busy since uni has started that I haven’t had time to post in a while, but I’m getting back to it now! 😀

As Sumaira did, I’m going to stick to the rules by 52lettersinthealphabet, and only change one! They are as follows:

1. Link to and thank the blogger who nominated you
2. Answer the 11 questions your nominator gives you
3. Tag 11 other bloggers who have 200 or less followers. I’m only going to tag 5 blogs because I don’t actually know that many others (and I tag anyone who reads this post and wants to participate!)
4. Ask the 11 bloggers you nominated 11 questions and let them know you nominated them!

For seventeen-year-old Aurora Lahey, survival is a lifestyle.

Aurora has the crappiest superpower on the planet. And it’s just unleashed a hit squad from hell. Demons are on the hunt, salivating to carve her carcass into confetti.

The Hex Boys–mysterious, hunky, and notorious for their trails of destruction–have the answers Aurora needs to survive. But their overload of deadly secrets and suspicious motives makes trusting them a potentially fatal move.

The battle to save her family, herself, and stop demonic domination may cost Aurora everything worth living for, and force her to reveal her own dark secrets. But no worries. She needs the Hex Boys to pull this off, and, chances are, teaming up with these guys will get her killed anyway.

My Review

I was really excited to read Demons at Deadnight! How nice is the book cover? It’s been a while since I’ve read a YA book and the story was pretty unique so I had high hopes. I wasn’t disappointed. The story follows Aurora, a girl that can see demons and makes friends with 6 delicious demon hunters: Ayden, Blake, Jayden, Logan, Matthias and Tristan… Or also known as, The Hex Boys.

Thursday Thoughts: Audiobooks

Thursday Thoughts is a weekly meme hosted by Ashley at Ok, Let’s Read. This is the first time that I’ve done it and came across it through Kaja’s awesome blog Of Dragons and Hearts, which you should check out! 🙂 This week’s topic is Audiobooks.

Source: Bills DealsI’ve never actually tried an audiobook before, but I really want to. I’ve just recently bought so many new books on my Kindle that I can’t quite justify buying an audiobook yet (though do I plan to buy my first one beginning of next week – what? I’m kind of setting myself restrictions aren’t I?).

Living in London, I spend have to spend a lot of time travelling around on the tube (the underground) or buses to get around and I can’t read when I’m moving about because it’s always so cramped or by the time I’d start reading a page I’d have to change lines or something (I know, life is hard 😛 ). So, listening to an audiobook whilst I bumble about would be perfect – especially since I get so bored of my music sometimes!

I saw on Kaja’s blog that she listens to audiobooks whilst cooking and I thought that wow, that must be so therapeutic! I would definitely enjoy that.

There’s a few things that I’m worried about though…
What if I didn’t like the narrator’s voice?
Or what happens when a sexy scene comes on?

I mean, it’s one thing to read those scenes but (okay, I’ll be honest) I think if I heard them described out loud I’d roll around on the floor laughing like a 5 year old. ^^’ I’ve seen that a few audiobooks give you a choice for narrators, but that’s only for the very well-known books.

Have you listened to an audiobook?
What do you think of them?

The Harry Potter Spell Book Tag!

I’ve finally managed to sort out all the things I needed to before my next semester at uni starts, so I’ve now got time to get back to all my books and blogging! 🙂 So much has been happening the last few days so it’s great to get some time to curl up on the couch on this typically rainy London day with a hot cocoa, my Kindle and my laptop. I stumbled across the Harry Potter Spell Book Tag on LittleOnion’s blog (whom you should check out, her blog is awesome!), and of course I decided I needed to get in on this!

Sumaira @ Hyper About Books
Allie @ Little Birdie Books
Appletaile @ Twist in The Taile
Eileen @ Bookwormstothemax
And anybody else that reads this post!
Sorry if you’ve already done this tag, and even if you haven’t don’t feel obliged to do it! 🙂

1. Expecto Patronum — A childhood book connected to good memories.

All of the Harry Potter books remind me of great times in my childhood – I was completely obsessed with the series! I preferred the first four books, after Goblet of Fire it started to get a bit too dark for me but I still loved them.

2. Expelliarmus — A book that took you by surprise.

Just like it did with LittleOnion, Obsidian and the Lux series totally took me by surprise! I mean, it’s about aliens. Aliens. Hot smoking aliens – did you think it could be possible? Neither did I… But oh, it most certainly is. I read the entire book in one sitting! If you haven’t already read it, you definitely should!

3. Prior Incantato — The last book you read.

Here Be Sexist Vampires was another book that also took me by surprise, I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would! I’m also just about to finish the second book in the series now.

4. Alohomora — A book that introduced you to a genre you wouldn’t have considered before.

Fighting Destiny

Fighting Destiny was the first adult/erotica book I’ve ever read and definitely opened my eyes to this genre (sex and faeries apparently go very well together). I’ve since added a few others similar to this to my TBR list now too!

5. Riddikulus — A funny book you read.

I read The Undomestic Goddess a long, long time ago but I remember I enjoyed it so much. Actually, I’ve always loved Sophie Kinsella books (all except the Shopaholic series, funnily enough). This one is my favourite of hers!

6. Sonorus — A book that you think everyone should know about.

You all know my love for this book and series, so of course this would be my first choice! If you don’t know about it (because you live under a rock or some other crazy reason 😛 ), you need to check it out!

7. Obliviate — A book you wish you never read.

It’s true. *hides* I absolutely loved Divergent and Insurgent, but Allegiant totally ruined it for me. Sure, it evoked strong emotions in me which is hard to do, but it also made me really resent the series 😦

8. Imperio — A book you had to read for school.

the stranger

L’Éranger or The Stranger by Albert Camus was a great novel that I had to read in school and I’m so glad that I did.

9. Crucio — A book that was painful to read.

This book took me two weeks to read, which is totally crazy! I really wanted to like it because I used to love the TMI series… But it just dragged on and on.

10. Avada Kedavra — A book that could kill.

I really enjoyed this book. I didn’t think I would, but it was extremely heart wrenching and heart warming at the same time. An incredibly well written piece.

I’m back!

I’m finally back and ready to get blogging again! 😀 The end of my semester was so busy and since then I’ve just been enjoying summer and hardly had any time to read anything, let alone write about it. I’m Fighting Destinyworking on a few things to post at the moment and I have to get back to everyones messages and comments, it’ll be great to see what I’ve missed in the past months! 🙂

Naturally, I’ve composed a new reading list for myself and I’m so excited to get into them!!! 😀 A couple of them have (shamefully) been on my TBR list for waaaay too long, but also I’ve found loads of new awesome books I want to read that I’d never heard of before! I’ve just finished reading “City of Heavenly Fire“, the sixth and final instalment in The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare (review coming soon!), and I’ve started reading “Fighting Destiny” by Amelia Hutchins – looooving it. Think 50 Shades of Grey but with faeries and fantasy (a.k.a heaven).

I'm so excited, I may vomit

I’ve started getting into much more adult genre books and am beginning of come out of YA, though I don’t mind NA! 😉 So the majority of these books are adult and are quite explicit so they may not be for younger readers ^^’,  and of course all the books are in the fantasy/paranormal and assassins (my latest obsession) genre! If you have any recommendations I’d love to know them! 😀

The Liebster Blog Award!

Thank you so much to Eileen from Bookwormstothemax for nominating me and asking the questions! 😀 She actually sent this to me a month ago but I’ve been so busy and just haven’t had any time to do it (I keep asking myself why I decided to start a blog in my final year of uni). I can’t even nominate eleven new bloggers to pass it on because the ones I follow have already been or I just don’t think they’ll do it! 😦 But this was fun to answer and loved the questions – thank you!

And on a side note I’m currently reading and really enjoying Nightshade by Andrea Cremer, I’m so glad I’ve finally had time to sit down and start it! I’m definitely going to try add some more reviews soon 🙂

These are the questions I was asked and my answers:

1. What is your number 1 bookish dream (meeting a character/author, being a character in a book, and etc.)?
It definitely is to kind of be a character in a book. I’d like to have Diana Bishop’s powers from the All Souls Trilogy (she is basically just a kick-ass super powerful witch), but I would want to look like myself. Also, instead of Diana’s Matthew, I’d want Daemon from the Lux Series (or Haden from the Redemption Series). Well then… I obviously haven’t given this a lot of thought or anything… *not*

2. If you could have any power what would you choose?
Telekinesis for sure! Like Jean Gray from Xmen.

3. Who is the one author you want to meet the most?
To be honest, I don’t really want to meet any authors at all… Just like I wouldn’t want to meet my favourite actors in real life. I think it’d ruin the books (and movies) for me – after all, they do say “never meet your heroes”.

4. What’s your favorite childhood book(s)?
Would have to be Harry Potter!

5. If you could have lunch with one character (from book/TV show/movie etc…) who would you choose?
Probably Daemon from the Lux Series (oh, have I already mentioned him? 😛 )

6. What’s your favorite quote?
Probably “She’s mad but she’s magic. There’s no lie in her fire.” or “We are all searching for someone whose demons play well with ours”.

7. Where do you want to travel to the most?

8. Favorite book for this year so far?
Ooh, thats tough. It really depends in what sense, but I guess I’d say Obsidian Book 1 in the Lux Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout (you’re probably starting to see a trend here haha) 🙂

9. What fandoms are you part of?
I actually not part of any… I guess the closest thing is my blog and other bloggers, and I’m not even sure if that counts!

10. Do have any OTPs and if so who? (Can be from TV show/book/etc…)
I actually had to Google what an OTP is, and from what I gather it’s “One True Pairing”. This is practically impossible for me to answer because I always manage to find something wrong with every pairing. I’d have to say Daemon and Katy, and I know I’ve mentioned them a lot but I’m just fawning over the series at the moment and I love the love/hate relationship they have.

11. Who is your favorite character? Why?
I can’t really say that I have one… Theres many characters I like a lot but I can’t just choose one! Super tough question! 😛
